The place is not new: Preah Vihear Temple. This ancient temple stands on a high cliff and was once just one of many temples from the Angkor period. But now, it feels like a time bomb of history for both countries. For Thai people, it was land they used to control. For Cambodians, it is a sacred place left by their ancestors. This is not only a fight for land\u2014it\u2019s a fight for the memory of the land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u5c31\u5728\u524d\u5e7e\u5929\uff0c\u6cf0\u570b\u8207\u67ec\u57d4\u5be8\u7684\u908a\u5883\u518d\u5ea6\u50b3\u51fa\u4ea4\u706b\u7684\u6d88\u606f\u3002\u5730\u9ede\u4e0d\u964c\u751f\u2014\u2014\u67cf\u5a01\u590f\u5bfa\u3002\u9019\u5ea7\u5750\u843d\u5728\u9ad8\u8073\u65b7\u5d16\u4e4b\u4e0a\u7684\u5343\u5e74\u53e4\u524e\uff0c\u539f\u672c\u53ea\u662f\u773e\u591a\u5433\u54e5\u6642\u671f\u907a\u5740\u4e2d\u7684\u4e00\u8655\uff0c\u5982\u4eca\u537b\u5e7e\u4e4e\u6210\u4e86\u5169\u570b\u6b77\u53f2\u8a18\u61b6\u7684\u706b\u85e5\u5eab\u3002\u5c0d\u6cf0\u570b\u4eba\u4f86\u8aaa\uff0c\u90a3\u662f\u66fe\u7d93\u5be6\u969b\u63a7\u5236\u7684\u9818\u571f\uff1b\u5c0d\u67ec\u57d4\u5be8\u4eba\u800c\u8a00\uff0c\u5247\u662f\u7956\u5148\u7559\u4e0b\u7684\u8056\u5730\u3002\u9019\u5834\u7d1b\u722d\u8981\u722d\u596a\u7684\u4e0d\u53ea\u662f\u9818\u571f\uff0c\u800c\u662f\u95dc\u65bc\u9019\u7247\u571f\u5730\u7684\u8a18\u61b6\u4e3b\u5c0e\u6b0a\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>Borders Are Never Still<\/strong><br><strong>\u8b8a\u52d5\u7684\u908a\u754c<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To understand the conflict, we need to go back to the 11th century and the Khmer Empire. Preah Vihear and Ta Moan Thom were important temples built during the Angkor era. They were in the north of Cambodia, near the mountains.<br>The Khmer kings used these temples to show their power and mark their borders. But in the 14th century, the empire weakened. Siam (now Thailand) grew stronger and took control of this area. For Thailand, this land became part of their kingdom. For Cambodia, it was a painful memory of being invaded.<br><br>\u8981\u7406\u89e3\u9019\u5834\u885d\u7a81\uff0c\u5f97\u5148\u56de\u5230\u516c\u514311\u4e16\u7d00\u7684\u9ad8\u68c9\u5e1d\u570b\u3002\u67cf\u5a01\u590f\u5bfa\u8207\u5854\u83ab\u5b89\u901a\u5bfa\u540c\u70ba\u5433\u54e5\u738b\u671d\u7684\u5927\u578b\u5b97\u6559\u5efa\u7bc9\uff0c\u5206\u5225\u4f4d\u65bc\u4eca\u5929\u7684\u67ec\u57d4\u5be8\u5317\u90e8\u8207\u908a\u5883\u5c71\u8108\u4e2d\u3002\u5b83\u5011\u662f\u9ad8\u68c9\u738b\u671d\u7684\u5b97\u6559\u5834\u57df\u8207\u6b0a\u529b\u6295\u5c04\u7684\u8c61\u5fb5\uff0c\u9ad8\u68c9\u738b\u671d\u4ee5\u9019\u4e9b\u5bfa\u5edf\u6a19\u8a18\u738b\u570b\u908a\u754c\uff0c\u5411\u5929\u795e\u5ba3\u793a\u4e3b\u6b0a\u3002\u4f46\u5e1d\u570b\u76db\u6975\u800c\u8870\u300214\u4e16\u7d00\u8d77\uff0c\u9ad8\u68c9\u9010\u6b65\u55aa\u5931\u5c0d\u897f\u90e8\u7684\u638c\u63a7\uff0c\u800c\u4f86\u81ea\u897f\u908a\u7684\u66b9\u7f85\u5d1b\u8d77\u3002\u963f\u745c\u9640\u8036\u738b\u671d\u6578\u6b21\u5165\u4fb5\u5433\u54e5\uff0c\u4e5f\u9010\u6f38\u638c\u63a7\u4eca\u65e5\u67ec\u6cf0\u908a\u5883\u5730\u5340\u3002\u5c0d\u6cf0\u570b\u4f86\u8aaa\uff0c\u9019\u4e9b\u5730\u65b9\u81ea\u6b64\u5c31\u662f\u66b9\u7f85\u7684\u4e00\u90e8\u5206\uff1b\u4f46\u5c0d\u67ec\u57d4\u5be8\u4eba\u800c\u8a00\uff0c\u90a3\u53ea\u662f\u7956\u570b\u906d\u5916\u65cf\u4fb5\u7565\u7684\u767e\u5e74\u6065\u8fb1\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>Colonial Maps Decided the Border<\/strong><br><strong>\u6b96\u6c11\u8005\u7684\u5730\u5716\u8aaa\u4e86\u7b97<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In the late 1800s, France came to Southeast Asia and made Cambodia a French colony. They forced Siam to sign treaties in 1904 and 1907 to fix the borders. The treaties said the border should follow the \u201cwatershed\u201d\u2014the highest point in the mountains. Preah Vihear was on a cliff, so it should have been on the Thai side. But French maps showed it in Cambodia. Why? The only road to the temple is from Thailand. Also, the watershed line on the map didn\u2019t match the real land. The French used tools like theodolites and chains, but the jungle and cliffs made it hard to measure accurately. Thailand didn\u2019t complain at first, but never really accepted the map. To them, it was drawn by a colonial power without fairness.<br><br>19\u4e16\u7d00\u672b\uff0c\u6cd5\u570b\u5c07\u67ec\u57d4\u5be8\u7d0d\u5165\u6cd5\u5c6c\u5370\u5ea6\u652f\u90a3\u6b96\u6c11\u5730\uff0c\u4e26\u8feb\u4f7f\u66b9\u7f85\u57281904\u5e74\u82071907\u5e74\u7c3d\u8a02\u689d\u7d04\uff0c\u5283\u5b9a\u5169\u570b\u908a\u754c\u3002\u6309\u7167\u689d\u7d04\uff0c\u908a\u754c\u61c9\u4ee5\u300c\u5206\u6c34\u5dba\u300d\u70ba\u4f9d\u64da\u5283\u5b9a\u3002\u67cf\u5a01\u590f\u5bfa\u5ea7\u843d\u5728\u4e00\u8655\u58ef\u89c0\u7684\u61f8\u5d16\u9802\u7aef\uff0c\u5730\u7406\u4f4d\u7f6e\u6975\u5177\u6230\u7565\u50f9\u503c\u3002\u96d6\u7136\u6cd5\u570b\u7e6a\u88fd\u7684\u5730\u5716\u4e0a\u770b\u4f3c\u4f4d\u65bc\u5206\u6c34\u5dba\u4ee5\u5357\u3001\u56e0\u6b64\u88ab\u5283\u5165\u67ec\u57d4\u5be8\u4e00\u5074\uff0c\u4f46\u524d\u5f80\u5bfa\u5edf\u7684\u552f\u4e00\u53ef\u901a\u884c\u9053\u8def\u537b\u5728\u4eca\u65e5\u6cf0\u570b\u5883\u5167\u3002\u6b64\u5916\uff0c\u6cd5\u570b\u6e2c\u91cf\u968a\u6240\u5283\u5b9a\u7684\u5206\u6c34\u5dba\u4e5f\u4e0d\u5b8c\u5168\u7b26\u5408\u5be6\u969b\u5730\u5f62\uff0c\u9019\u4f7f\u5f97\u908a\u754c\u7684\u5408\u6cd5\u6027\u8207\u5408\u7406\u6027\u81ea\u59cb\u4fbf\u5b58\u5728\u722d\u8b70\u3002\u6cd5\u570b\u4f7f\u7528\u5982\u7d93\u7def\u5100\u8207\u6e2c\u8ddd\u93c8\u7b49\u5de5\u5177\uff0c\u4f46\u5728\u71b1\u5e36\u53e2\u6797\u8207\u5ced\u58c1\u5730\u5f62\u4e2d\uff0c\u6e96\u78ba\u6027\u6709\u9650\u3002\u7576\u6642\u4ecd\u7a31\u66b9\u7f85\u7684\u6cf0\u570b\u96d6\u672a\u7acb\u5373\u6297\u8b70\uff0c\u537b\u59cb\u7d42\u4e0d\u8a8d\u540c\u90a3\u5f35\u5730\u5716\u7684\u6b63\u7576\u6027\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>Two International Court Decisions<\/strong><br><strong>\u6cd5\u7406\u8207\u60c5\u611f\u7684\u62c9\u92f8\uff1a\u5169\u6b21\u570b\u969b\u5224\u6c7a<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1962, the case went to the International Court of Justice (ICJ). The court gave Preah Vihear to Cambodia because Thailand didn\u2019t protest the map earlier. This caused anger in Thailand. People burned Cambodian flags. They felt it was unfair\u2014a colonial map used against modern sovereignty. In 2013, Cambodia asked the court again to decide who owns the land around the temple. The court said the area also belongs to Cambodia. After that, both countries sent more soldiers to the border. Small fights happened. The temple became the center of an old and painful problem.<br><br>1962\u5e74\uff0c\u96d9\u65b9\u5c07\u722d\u8b70\u63d0\u4ea4\u81f3\u570b\u969b\u6cd5\u9662\u3002\u6cd5\u9662\u4ee5\u300c\u6cf0\u570b\u7576\u5e74\u672a\u5c0d\u5730\u5716\u7570\u8b70\u300d\u70ba\u7531\uff0c\u5224\u67cf\u5a01\u590f\u5bfa\u6b78\u67ec\u57d4\u5be8\u3002\u6cf0\u570b\u6c11\u9593\u4e00\u7247\u5629\u7136\uff0c\u751a\u81f3\u6709\u4eba\u711a\u71d2\u570b\u65d7\u6297\u8b70\u3002\u5c0d\u6cf0\u570b\u4eba\u4f86\u8aaa\uff0c\u9019\u662f\u6b96\u6c11\u907a\u7522\u5c0d\u73fe\u4ee3\u4e3b\u6b0a\u7684\u58d3\u5236\u30022013\u5e74\uff0c\u67ec\u57d4\u5be8\u518d\u6b21\u8acb\u6c42\u6cd5\u9662\u91d0\u6e05\u5bfa\u5edf\u5468\u908a\u4e3b\u6b0a\uff0c\u6cd5\u9662\u8a8d\u5b9a\u9644\u5c6c\u5730\u5340\u4ea6\u5c6c\u67ec\u57d4\u5be8\u3002\u5224\u6c7a\u516c\u5e03\u5f8c\uff0c\u96d9\u65b9\u8ecd\u4e8b\u90e8\u7f72\u5347\u7d1a\uff0c\u591a\u6b21\u767c\u751f\u5c0f\u898f\u6a21\u885d\u7a81\uff0c\u6210\u70ba\u722d\u8b70\u672a\u89e3\u7684\u6838\u5fc3\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>Textbooks and National Memory<\/strong><br><strong>\u6559\u79d1\u66f8\u88e1\u7684\u570b\u65cf\u8a18\u61b6<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In schoolbooks, the two countries tell very different stories:Thai textbooks say Preah Vihear was lost. They talk about how Siam ruled the area for a long time and suggest that the land was taken unfairly.<br><br>Cambodian textbooks call it a \u201cheritage of the ancestors\u201d and link it to Angkor Wat. The court\u2019s decision is seen as justice finally served.<br><br>No one is completely wrong. They just look at the past in different ways. The temple has become a mirror, showing how each country remembers its own story.<br><br>\u9019\u4e9b\u907a\u5740\u5728\u5169\u570b\u6559\u79d1\u66f8\u4e2d\uff0c\u627f\u8f09\u8457\u6975\u4e0d\u540c\u7684\u570b\u65cf\u6558\u4e8b\uff1a<br><br>\u6cf0\u570b\u6559\u79d1\u66f8\u591a\u4ee5\u300c\u5931\u571f\u300d\u8ad6\u8ff0\u67cf\u5a01\u590f\uff0c\u5f37\u8abf\u66b9\u7f85\u738b\u671d\u5c0d\u8a72\u5730\u5340\u7684\u9577\u671f\u7d71\u6cbb\uff0c\u6697\u793a\u662f\u300c\u88ab\u6b96\u6c11\u8005\u8207\u570b\u969b\u9ad4\u5236\u596a\u8d70\u7684\u4e3b\u6b0a\u300d\u3002<br><br>\u67ec\u57d4\u5be8\u6559\u79d1\u66f8\u5247\u5c07\u67cf\u5a01\u590f\u8207\u5433\u54e5\u7a9f\u4e26\u5217\u70ba\u300c\u7956\u5148\u907a\u7522\u300d\uff0c\u5f37\u8abf\u9ad8\u68c9\u738b\u671d\u7684\u5149\u69ae\u8207\u6b63\u7fa9\u56de\u6b78\u3002<br><br>\u90fd\u6c92\u6709\u932f\uff0c\u53ea\u662f\u770b\u5411\u904e\u53bb\u7684\u65b9\u5f0f\u4e0d\u540c\u3002\u67cf\u5a01\u590f\u6210\u4e86\u4e00\u9762\u93e1\u5b50\uff0c\u6620\u7167\u51fa\u5169\u500b\u570b\u5bb6\u5982\u4f55\u9078\u64c7\u56de\u9867\u81ea\u5df1\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>Two Kinds of Pain<\/strong><br><strong>\u5169\u7a2e\u907a\u61be\u548c\u59d4\u5c48<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Thailand feels sad because they controlled the area for many years, but lost it because of a colonial map. They also feel angry about unfair international rules.<br><br>Cambodia feels sad because this is their temple, but it was controlled by another country for so long. Even after winning twice in court, they still have to prove they are right.<br><br>Both sides believe they are right, but they cannot convince the other.<br><br>\u6cf0\u570b\u7684\u59d4\u5c48\u5728\u65bc\uff1a\u767e\u5e74\u4f86\u5be6\u969b\u7ba1\u7406\u7684\u5340\u57df\uff0c\u56e0\u6b96\u6c11\u5730\u5716\u8207\u570b\u969b\u5224\u6c7a\u5931\u53bb\u63a7\u5236\u3002\u4ed6\u5011\u66f4\u61a4\u6012\u7684\u662f\u570b\u969b\u9ad4\u7cfb\u7684\u4e0d\u516c\u5e73\u3002<br><br>\u67ec\u57d4\u5be8\u7684\u59d4\u5c48\u5247\u662f\uff1a\u9019\u662f\u6211\u5011\u7956\u5148\u7684\u5edf\u5b87\uff0c\u537b\u9577\u671f\u7531\u9130\u570b\u638c\u63a7\u3002\u5373\u4f7f\u5169\u5ea6\u52dd\u8a34\uff0c\u4e5f\u8981\u5728\u570b\u969b\u8207\u8ecd\u4e8b\u58d3\u529b\u4e0b\u4e0d\u65b7\u81ea\u8b49\u6e05\u767d\u3002<br><br>\u96d9\u65b9\u90fd\u81ea\u8a8d\u5408\u7406\uff0c\u537b\u7121\u6cd5\u8aaa\u670d\u5c0d\u65b9\u653e\u4e0b\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>Where Does History Begin?<\/strong><br><strong>\u5f9e\u54ea\u4e00\u6bb5\u6b77\u53f2\u958b\u59cb\u8aaa\u8d77\uff1f<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Preah Vihear cannot speak for itself. People give it meaning.<br>If we ask: \u201cWho owns this land?\u201d<br>Maybe we should first ask: \u201cFrom which point in history do we start counting?\u201d<br>From the Khmer Empire? The Siamese Kingdom? The French colony? Or the UN court ruling?<br>Not only Thailand and Cambodia\u2014many border problems in the world ask the same question: Where does history start? Who draws the line?<br>Preah Vihear is only one example. It shows that borders are not just lines on a map. They are about memory, history, and identity.
